Caitlyn Bodine, MM, MT-BC; Owner

Caitlyn came to music therapy in 2011 after working several years in foreign language education, study abroad, and helping to launch a boutique music school in Chicago. She earned a Master’s degree in Music Therapy from Western Michigan University (WMU), became a board-certified music therapist in 2015, and founded the company that would become Fiddlehead Music Therapy shortly thereafter. Her training at WMU was aligned with the neurologic music therapy framework, and she completed her final internship at Spectrum Health Neuro Rehabilitation Services in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Since then she has expanded her study and clinical practice to work in music-centered, relationship-based, and community models of care. In addition to music therapy, Caitlyn also holds Bachelor’s degrees in Music and Spanish from Southwestern University in Georgetown, TX, and is an experienced Music Together teacher.

She believes that the joy of making music can be accessible to all people regardless of age, ability, or musical background, and she is passionate about using music as a vehicle for connection and relationship-building. Caitlyn plays piano, guitar, and sings, and through Fiddlehead Music Therapy, LLC, she provides music therapy at senior living facilities all over Kalamazoo, office-based services for individuals of all ages, and also teaches piano lessons. All of her work as a clinician and an educator is tailored to the unique interests and goals of her clients and students.

Fiddlehead Music Therapy, LLC

The Fiddlehead

Fiddlehead Music Therapy, LLC is named for the emergent leaves of the fern plant. Some traditions and cultures hold the fiddlehead fern as a symbol of hidden potential, and multiple fronds as representing the strength and healing of a loving relationship within family or community.

Just as the shape of the fully mature fern frond is not necessarily apparent in the tightly coiled emerging leaf, there is more to our clients (and to all of us) than initially meets the eye. When given the right supports and invitations, a fuller picture of who we are, who we have always been, and who we might become begins to take shape.

We believe that holding space for this hidden potential within loving relationships is paramount to developing, restoring, and maintaining the highest possible quality of life.
